World’s Largest Blue Diamond Will Soon be Auctioned at Christie’s May 2014
The world’s largest blue diamond, will be auctioned at Christie’s “Magnificent Jewels” sale in Geneva on May 14, 2014. The pre-estimated bid price is between $21 -25 million.
This magnificent and rare diamond, called ‘The Blue’, is a pear cut and weighs in at 13.22 carats.
The color is a highly saturated cobalt blue.
Christie’s describes it as “the largest fancy vivid blue diamond in the world.”
Owned by a private seller who has elected to remain anonymous.
We know from previous auctions over the past few decades alone that sales for important Natural Fancy Color Diamonds tend to break world wide records. We’re sure that this stone will do extremely well. Of course we’ll keep you posted on the results.
